JOB DESCRIPTION: 

FMF is implementing an Integrated Health &Nutrition Project in Ahwar and Khanfir districts of Abyan governorate and Al-Khawkhah district of Al-Hudaydah governorate to deliver quality integrated health and nutrition services to the beneficiaries. Health facility Assistant who is the following: –

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose patients and carry out outpatient consultations within the health facilities, or during outreach visits to the 2nd and 3rd catchment zones of the HF, prescribing the necessary treatment according to the national and international guidelines and protocols.
  • Keep the patients and their families informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow and ensure that they have understood.
  • Follow up on the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following national and international guidelines and protocols and deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility.
  • Take care of the quality of disinfection and sterilization of the medical material and assure that is in compliance with standing hygiene standards.
  • Supervise the HCWs of the HFs and mobile team members’ daily work and ensure a standard high-quality performance and correct documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure ongoing training of the health care workers to optimize the quality of the provided services.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports for internal and external use on the ongoing activities of the project.
  • Make sure that complaint and feedback mechanism (CFM) is in place and help beneficiaries become aware of it.
  • Collect and compile project data regularly and submit it to the district coordinator, including statistical reports, case studies, and success stories.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or about any problem or complication of the patient’s illness.
  • Any other task as assigned by the line manager.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or higher degree
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working as a health facility medical doctor or mobile medical team leader.
  • Organizational abilities and previous experience working with NGOs is preferred.
  • Previous working experience in Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI).
  • Native Arabic with good professional English, both written and spoken.
  • Good computer literacy (MS word and Excel).
  • Willing to work in challenging environments and extra hours if and when requires 
  • Able to stay in the field and have night duties if needed.
  • Problem-solving and leadership skills
