The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to providing aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

JOB PURPOSE:

Under the direct supervision of the Governorate Coordinator, the Project Officer (Agricultural) will be responsible for the overall coordination of field activities in the targeted area and covers local coordination to ensure the implementation of Agricultural project activities. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Coordination with all the offices of the local authorities concerned with the project.
  2. Mobilizing and training the target community and assessing the needs of value chains (farmers).
  3. Follow-up and supervision of the grants use by the approved work plan.
  4. Providing advice to farmers to solve agricultural problems and best practices in agricultural production.
  5. Provide technical support and technical support and train beneficiaries to use farming tools, equipment’s, seeds, etc.
  6. Assist in identifying ways to improve productivity, such as improving irrigation, fertilization, or feeding methods.
  7. Technical supervision of the installation of modern agricultural techniques (drip irrigation systems).
  8. Implementation of various training activities for the targeted value chains.
  9. Supervising and following up the implementation of rehabilitation activities for farms sheds establishing production units for crops and beekeeping, including (controlling the quality of outputs, following up on quantities, documenting work, and other related tasks) according to the project mechanism.
  10. Ensure that all documents related to the above tasks are complete and available.
  11. Other tasks within the qualifications of the job title as required at work.
  12. field visits per week to each site (group) to follow up on the implementation of project activities and alleviate difficulties.
  13. Assistance in identifying ways to improve the productivity of agricultural crops at the lowest costs.
  14. Providing advice to groups of targeted to solve the problems they face in production and best practices in increasing productivity.
  15. Assistance in identifying ways to improve agricultural and its products (quantitative and qualitatively).
  16. Improving the field practices of the target value chain groups.
  17. Follow-up and supervision of the field activities implementation of smallholders.
  18. Supervising the implementation of the development of a credit groups scheme for the target   identifying the financial institutions and the executive entity for each group, to ensure sustainability.
  19. Prepare progress reports and success stories as required.
  20. The officer should be from Hadramout.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

A) EDUCATION/TRAINING 

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture.
  2. Well Knowledge in agricultural management, food security, and livelihoods.

B) EXPERIENCE  

Required:

  • Extensive experience in working for NGO or INGOs on recovery and development fields with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Practical experience and sound knowledge of farm management. 
  • Demonstrated capacities to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with government officials, local organizations, communities and other stakeholders
  • English-language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing) 
  • Ability to communicate strategically under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and excellent sense of organization
  • Excellent writer – the ability to develop high-quality reports and accurately analyses M&E data.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions quickly and independently
  • Extremely flexible and have the ability to cope with stressful situations.
  • Ability to relate to and effectively motivate staff.
  • Ability to represent the organization in high-level meetings with donors and local government
  • Proficient in computer applications, especially with Word and Excel, PowerPoint a plus.
