The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to providing aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

Job Description:

The District Coordinator will be responsible for the field work and ensure that day-to-day activities are properly done and implemented.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning, implementing and monitoring of the activities of the project.
  • Build robust work relations with the local authorities and other implementing NGOs as well as INGOs.
  • Ensure the Nutrition and C4D activities are appropriately planned, that delays and constraints are documented, and solutions identified.
  • Participate in the design of the distribution plans and the implementation of project support in the respective locations as well as field visits to the project sites.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites to provide technical oversights and assist the project management team as well as the field staff to identify issues that need timely action and support at different levels.
  • Assist in documenting and sharing lessons learnt for future Nutrition and C4D project improvement.
  • Build volunteers capacity in key areas including during the field visits.
  • Lead the team of project team in the field and coordinate with them as well as held coordination meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Submit daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Conduct regular field visits to the Health Facility (HF) and community- based sites and monitoring the daily activities of the project.
  • Any other duties and tasks as required

Position requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health or any related fields
  • Experience in community mobilization and capacity building
  • 1-2 years community work experience, preferably related to the type of project
  • Excellent skills in monitoring implementation of program activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication verbally and in writing as well as inter-personal skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to field sites
  • Become conversant with the various generic tools such as assessment and survey techniques and questionnaires.
  • Ability to identify potential problems before they occur. Proactive in preparation and uses initiative in response.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, knowledge of English is desirable.
  • Good computer skills.
