FMF is a non-profit and non-governmental organization aiming to provide health, nutrition, food security and protection services as a humanitarian response to the escalating socio-economic situation in Yemen since 2012.

JOB OVERVIEW

To accurately record personal and anthropometrical data as well and calculate nutritional indices for Children and Pregnant/lactating women presenting at OTP/Nutrition sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct quality anthropometric measures at the OTP sites on the referral beneficiaries following the initial screening exercise while ensuring efficient and effective workflow.
  • Engage CHV in referring malnourished children and pregnant and lactating women special attention to the basic health units.
  • Assisting community in identification and referral of acute malnutrition,
  • Ensures that nutritional protocol is strictly followed in terms of admission and discharge criteria.
  • Properly fill in the registration books and monitoring cards of each beneficiary with personal and anthropometric data,
  • Assisting in monitoring the nutrition situation in areas of work, including participating in nutrition assessments and surveillance as required,
  • Performing any other responsibilities deemed appropriate by the OTP.
  • Screening of under-fives and perform health screening of all severely malnourished children as per the guideline for admission in OTP.
  • To take the history of a malnourished patient, conduct clinical and physical examination,
  • Refer those with major risks and medical complications immediately.
  • In collaboration with the Community Health Volunteers, provide health and nutrition education on the proper utilization of supplementary food, child-feeding practices, and causes of malnutrition, diarrhea and other related illnesses to the caretakers of the malnourished children admitted to OTP and to all others attending the program.
  • Investigate the causes of non-responding and refer children to Stabilization Centre (SC)

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nutrition or relevant discipline
  • At least one-year experience in similar position
  • Able to think and work independently.
  • Local language skills necessary,
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a high-stress environment,
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills,

  • Punctuality, organization, honesty and reliability are essential

Handling of anthropometric tools and reporting

  • Proper use and recording of OTP/TSFP cards and resisters,
  • Collect accurate and reliable data from beneficiaries,
  • Storage and sharing of data with the relevant project staff,
  • Keep proper record of daily attendance in the register book clearing showing the deaths, cured, defaulters and the transfers,
  • Update register books on weekly, monthly reports.

Reporting

  • The OTP is responsible for ensuring that the data of the beneficiaries are documented in the reporting tools:
  • Check the condition of anthropometric materials received or to be sent, and verify the accuracy of any previously inventory of the tools,
  • Responsible for proper handling of weighing and measuring equipment. Ensure scales are properly calibrated at all times and report defects, damage or loss of equipment to the OTP/TSFP Supervisor.
