POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Mobilizer works under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Officer and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating community mobilization activities in the targeted districts, the Community Mobilizer is responsible for engaging local communities to raise awareness on protection issues and promote safe, inclusive environments. They facilitate community-based protection activities, support vulnerable groups, and ensure community voices are integrated into program design. The role includes organizing awareness sessions, mapping community risks, and strengthening referral pathways. The mobilizer builds trust and fosters collaboration with local leaders and stakeholders. They assist in identifying protection concerns and ensure timely reporting and response.
POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct protection-focused community assessments to identify key stakeholders and vulnerable groups.
- Assist and implement a protection-sensitive community mobilization plan with the project team.
- Support the team in creating monthly and quarterly protection work plans and awareness priorities.
- Organize and facilitate protection-related meetings, workshops, and awareness sessions in the community.
- Promote protection objectives and messages through appropriate and inclusive communication methods.
- Organize training for community volunteers on protection topics like referrals, confidentiality, and GBV prevention.
- Hold monthly meetings with community volunteers to discuss protection issues and plan future activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders and local protection actors.
- Mobilize and engage community members, especially vulnerable groups, in protection activities.
- Provide regular reports on community mobilization progress, challenges, and protection concerns.
- Monitor and evaluate protection outreach activities and suggest improvements based on feedback.
- Coordinate closely with the protection team to align community engagement with case management and referrals.
- Document and share success stories related to protection, with informed consent.
- Keep all protection-related documents, reports, and training materials properly organized and stored.
- Perform any other protection-related tasks assigned by the line manager
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, community development, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in community mobilization, preferably in protection or humanitarian settings.
- Strong understanding of protection principles, including GBV, child protection, and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with diverse communities.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations and understanding of local context and culture.
- Ability to write reports and use digital tools (e.g. tablets, data collection apps).
- Fluency in local languages; basic English or Arabic is an asset.
