Job Description:
Adolescent girl assistant will be responsible for providing consultation and support to adolescent girls who access the community center and support linkages with protection and GBV services. The Adolescent Girl Assistant will play a crucial role in implementing psychosocial support activities and life-skills programs for adolescent girls in targeted locations. Working closely with the Women and Girls’ Protection and Empowerment (WPE) team, the assistant will facilitate various activities, ensuring the needs and vulnerabilities of adolescent girls are addressed. The assistant will also collaborate with caregivers, caseworkers, and other team members to provide a comprehensive response to gender-based violence (GBV) and promote a safe and supportive environment for adolescent girls.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Encourage their participation in psychosocial activities, skills-building sessions, non-formal education, and recreational programs.
- Promote the importance of emotional well-being, empowerment, and self-care among adolescent girls.
- Provide guidance and support to enhance their personal development, resilience, and ability to navigate challenges.
- Utilize youth-friendly communication techniques to effectively engage and communicate with adolescent girls.
- Mobilize adolescent girls in target locations to participate in psychosocial activities, including emotional support groups, skills-building, non-formal education, and recreational activities.
- Facilitate life-skills activities targeting adolescent girls.
- Co-facilitate parenting skills curriculum with male and female caregivers.
- Collaborate with caseworkers and other WPE team members to ensure GBV responses are taking into account specific needs and vulnerabilities of adolescent girls and youth-friendly communication techniques are used.
- Monitoring and evaluating the adolescent girls’ participation in activities and collecting their feedback.
- Support and collaborate with staff, including by providing coaching and training on how to work with adolescent girls.
- Draft and contribute to regular weekly and monthly reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A high school degree or any other relevant subject or any related field.
- 2 years of experience working with I/NGOs, particularly in Case Management.
- Strong experience working in protection in humanitarian/recovery, complex and volatile contexts.
- Knowledge of access to services and referral mechanisms.
- Demonstrated familiarity with case management principles, standards, and procedures.
- Strong experience with monitoring tools and systems relevant to case management.
- Experience in mainstreaming protection concepts within a humanitarian operation.
- Strong organization, collaboration, representation, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of the area of responsibility and understanding of local communities and customary rules.
- Excellent observation, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Strong knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO.
- Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission, and vision of FMF.
- Be available for regular training provided by FMF and support in identifying staff training needs.
- Respect the confidentiality of data and information.
- Attention to detail and ability to communicate professionally and effectively – practical and problem-solver.
- Ability to deal with heavy work pressure.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
