About FMF:

The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to providing aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Documentation of all project’s activities, media coverage and success stories.
  • Interview beneficiaries and write human interest stories from FMF areas of operation
  • Collect photos & videos that show the impact of the conflict on the humanitarian situation
  • Support in implementation of media plans, campaigns or any other media-related events.
  • Stay up to date on developments and elsewhere in the country.
  • Any other task which may be reasonably requested to be undertaken within the scope of this post.
  • Collect and compile data (stories, photos, videos, etc.) from project staff and beneficiaries, and assist in drafting of media and policy products.
  • Support the FMF website, Media, and for web output on a day-to-day   basis-including writing new web and Media material, updating outdated content, editing contributions from others, uploading   complementary   images and footage.
  • Developing, writing/copy   editing   and/or sourcing   of content for FMF website as well as for FMF social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube … etc)
  • Any other duties as assigned

DIMENSIONS:

  • Sensitive approach to dealing with vulnerable populations and communities affected by conflict.
  • Relevant knowledge of media and policy environment and project context.
  • Ability to clearly convey complex messages verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to write compelling human-interest stories.
  • Ability to identify story angles through conversations with project staff and beneficiaries

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Multimedia, Journalism, public relations, or related field.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with INGOs/NGOs in Humanitarian Aid in similar position.
  • Excellent Photography and filming skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Enthusiasm and a genuine interest in INGO work.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven experience of using MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Proven experience of using design applications (photoshop, Illustrator,.etc ).
  • Excellent Photography and filming skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, team skills, and proven ability to be flexible and sensitive in demanding situations.
  • Experience of operating in a conflict environment and sensitively managing complex negotiations between individuals.
