The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to providing aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

Position Summary

MEAL Assistant will monitor the implementation of the projects’ activities and ensure the overall project quality. The position holder will monitor and evaluate the implementation of all project activities; and work closely with the project’s teams to provide feedback and report the achieved results. The incumbent will also lead in collecting all of the required data from the field and report on the project’s framework and the required project’s donor reports.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support all M&E plans for the project, including monitoring data quality and tracking the progress of activities.
  • Defining and implementing the key project performance indicators as well as monitoring them throughout the project.
  • Assist the project staff in clarifying project information needs and supporting ways to properly document, organize, and capture progress.
  • Draft tools and their revisions as well as data collection procedures under the guidance of the line supervisor (e.g., logical framework, project performance tracking, indicators).
  • Keep track of the project changes and progress developments in order to advise and recommend tools and strategies to increase performance and results.
  • Suggest ways to facilitate data collection and data flow within the project field teams.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection and management systems and the proposed solutions.
  • Perform regular field visits to ensure the quality of data collected by the project’s teams and verify the reported data’s accuracy.
  • Conduct surveys when necessary, collect survey data, and provide analysis to line supervisor.
  • Support and participate in the project evaluations and contribute to drafting requested regular reports.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Position requirements

  • A university degree in Social Sciences, Computer sciences, or any other relevant subject or related field.
  • two2 years of experience working in M&E.
  • Prior familiarity with implementing protection projects preferred (sufficient technical knowledge).
  • Demonstrated experience in deadline-driven reporting environments.
  • Experience in providing training and support to project staff.
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of protection issues, specifically FMF’s approach to and role in protection work, including analysis and advocacy.
  • Analytical skills and strategic thinking, including experience developing analysis and strategies for protection.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and protection guidelines.
  • Native Arabic and strong English skills are essential.
  • Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission, and vision of FMF.
  • Be available for FMF’s regular training and support in identifying staff training needs.
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate professionally and effectively – practical and problem-solver.
  • Able to ensure quality delivery in stressful environments, punctuality and respect for rules and procedures, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with heavy work pressure.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
