Title: Protection Manager
Location: Aden with frequent travel to different locations in Lahj and Taiz
Start of Contract & Duration: 6 Month

POSITION’S OVERALL OBJECTIVES
The Protection Manager will manage and lead protection project implemented by FMF in Aden , Lahij and Taiz. His/her primary role will be to provide technical guidance and programmatic supervision of project staff in day-to-day management of all aspects of the protection project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Oversight and Management of Protection project
- Assess protection needs, identify problems/gaps, and propose/prioritize timely practical actions to respond to particular protection problems.
- Ensure that data collection and information management systems are in place for appropriate analysis, planning, evaluation, and advocacy.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Development: .
- Undertake quality control and site monitoring to ensure that services provided are according to best practice standards.
- Monitor the establish of the community base protection networks
- Support implementation and ensure adherence to grant work plans, spending plans and monitoring and evaluation plans.
- Prepare and maintain/update detailed project specific work plan(s) to ensure that stated goals and objectives are met within the overall grant timeline and budget
- Provide direction and monitor staff in their implementation of the work plan and quality of technical activities, share relevant information and direction to improve quality and achieve timelines
- Ensure all monitoring activities are fully documented, including systematic and timely data collection.
- Monitor the monthly salaries of the team.
- Write donor and management reports on protection projects.
Team management:
- Directly supervise Project M&E Officer ,Protection officers ,IMO and indirectly the entire protection team.
- Conduct recruitment of technical staff as needed.
- Set clear objectives for protection team and do timely performance evaluations.
- Continuously update project documentation and files.
- Develop staff capacities on protection issues, participatory protection assessments, monitoring and inclusion of vulnerable groups though training, mentoring and coaching.
Coordination and Representation:
- Share relevant project information with stakeholders (UNHCR , Protection cluster …etc)
- Participate in general protection coordination meetings.
- Coordinate with UNHCR, UNICEF, protection NGOs, and other key stakeholders on the provision of protection services for refugees and IDPs and relevant contingency planning.
- Coordinate with the Protection cluster on issues relevant to the project.
Reporting
- The Protection Manager is responsible of monthly reports, final technical reports, and any other relevant reports.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS:
- University or graduate degree.
- Minimum of three years’ work experience within the field of protection, particularly within the field of migrant/IDP/refugee protection, with experience with International NGO’s, UN agencies, relevant ministries and/or local authorities in migrants/refugee settings.
- Proven commitment to accountability and quality assurance.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Experience with capacity building, and in convening and facilitating trainings and workshops.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with staff members and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in adverse conditions.
- Substantial project management skills and experience.
- Excellent professional written and oral English language skills.
- Proficiency in common computer packages.
