JOB DESCRIPTION:

The BSFP Officer will be responsible for the field work and ensure that day-to-day activities are properly done and implemented.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with local authorities, GHO, and other concerned parties regarding the project initiation, implementation and supervision.
  • Coordinate with other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working on Health and Nutrition projects at the Governorate level, share notes, and, where necessary, plan jointly.
  • Attend all related coordination meetings/forums at the Governorate level and provide feedback to other staff and the line supervisor.
  • Preparing project weekly and monthly technical reports.
  • Participate in planning, coordination and execution of M&E activities such as surveys, monthly and quarterly follow up and quality assurance.
  • Ensure program targets using indicators / activity tracking table.
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and capacity building to the project field staff (District Coordination, BSFP Distribution Monitors, Health Workers, Warehouse Storekeepers, and Community Nutrition Volunteers) on effective project implementation at the field level.
  • Supervise the distribution of supplementary food to children under 2 years and Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) as per the CMAM guidelines.
  • Work closely with, BSFP Distribution Monitors and Warehouse Storekeepers to ensure smooth implementation of BSFP component, timely registration of project beneficiaries, and issuance of proper project identification documents.
  • Raise the need of BSFP registers and records for FDPs for all governorates, and arrange them in Aden warehouse, each governorate separately.
  • Preparing the Distribution Plan (DP and FRN).
  • Prepare the distribution plan to the FDPs and follow up the transportation quotations for BSFP Commodities in the governorates, and raise them to the logistical to get the approval of transportation.
  • Conduct frequent field supervisory visits to the targeted districts and Food Distribution Points (FDPs) to ensure that project activities are implemented as per the Project agreement.
  • Submit daily/weekly/monthly distribution reports to the Senior Project Officer and receive weekly/monthly cycle reports from District Coordination and send them to the Senior Project Officer.
  • Follow up of commodities and the expiry dates in warehouses and FDPs for all governorates.
  • Ensure awareness and implementation of appropriate beneficiary/community accountability mechanisms, including responding to Hotline Feedback and Complaints Mechanism and community feedback sessions.
  • Help the Senior Project Officer on prepare the quarter and annual project statistics in BSFP.
  • Compile and submit in a timely manner donor reports with assistance from other appropriate project staff i.e. monthly nutrition reports (CMAM database, CHVs database), monthly progress reports, WFP Cooperating Partner Distribution Reports (CPDR), Stock Reports, and Quarterly/Annual donor reports.
  • Compile documentation of best practices and lessons learned within the organization and with other stakeholders in the project areas.
  • Follow up the complaints from SugarCRM and respond to them.
  • Maintain proper filing systems and storage of all project documents, reports and other relevant technical materials (both hard and soft copies).
  • Report any problems in a timely manner to the Senior Project Officer and Project Manager and react properly to solve them.
  • Cooperate with Logistic, Finance, Admin, and Human Resources departments to facilitate field activities.
  • Prepare, Lead/support evaluation of the outcomes of the trainings.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in medicine, public health, nutrition or any other related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience, with 6 months of work experience in the field with local communities and NGOs. SFP work experience is mandatory.
  • Native Arabic with excellent English, both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated ability to reporting using nutrition standard forms with gender-disaggregated data.
  • Excellent computer skills particularly in Microsoft Applications.
  • Experience of emergency nutrition intervention including undertaking assessments, contributing to designing, implementing and running programs, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field.
  • Flexible, adaptable, able to improvise and work in a stressful, volatile environment
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, taking into account cultural and language difficulties.
