Job Description:

The GBV Social worker will be responsible for providing social support to GBV cases at HFs and community levels and improving referral of GBV cases in need to specific services.
The GBV Social Worker plays a crucial role in providing direct case management services to GBV survivors and individuals facing vulnerabilities. They are responsible for conducting assessments, providing referrals, supervising case management activities, and actively contributing to the establishment of referral systems. In addition, the GBV Social Worker collaborates with the Adolescent Girl Assistant and Prevention and Risk Mitigation Assistant to establish and manage WGCC, organize social activities for women and girls, implement GBV mitigation initiatives, facilitate cash assistance programs, and ensure effective case management. They coordinate closely with the Protection Assistant to ensure high-quality case management assistance and foster collaboration with stakeholders and service providers.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive case management services to GBV survivors and individuals facing vulnerabilities, including conducting assessments, offering referrals, and providing ongoing support.
  • Supervise and coordinate case management activities, ensuring a survivor-centered approach and adherence to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Adolescent Girl Assistant and Prevention and Risk Mitigation Assistant to establish and manage community centers, creating safe spaces for women and girls to access support and participate in social activities.
  • Respond to the external referred cases from other humanitarian organization and ensure the cases are well assessed, referred, and followed up, and ensure feedback to external organizations that refers cases to FMF.
  • Organize and facilitate social activities specifically designed to empower and engage women and girls, promoting their well-being, skills development, and social inclusion.
  • Implement GBV mitigation initiatives, including awareness campaigns, training sessions, and community mobilization efforts to prevent and respond to GBV incidents effectively.
  • Support the implementation of cash assistance programs, ensuring timely and appropriate financial support to GBV survivors and individuals in need.
  • Coordinate with the Protection Assistant to establish and maintain effective referral systems, ensuring seamless access to specialized services and support.
  • Foster strong partnerships and maintain regular communication with stakeholders and service providers involved in GBV response, including health centers, legal aid organizations, and counseling services.
  • Collaborate with the Adolescent Girl Assistant to provide specialized support and services to adolescent girls affected by GBV or facing other vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with the Prevention and Risk Mitigation Assistant to integrate prevention strategies into case management activities and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of case management interventions, referral systems, and prevention initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and proposing necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of case management activities, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection protocols.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of GBV-related policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Actively participate in training and capacity-building initiatives to enhance knowledge and skills related to GBV case management, prevention, and survivor support.
  • Stay updated on best practices, research, and developments in the field of GBV response, adolescent programming, and prevention strategies, incorporating them into daily work.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • A university degree in in social sciences or any other relevant subject or any related field.
  • 2 years of experience working with I/NGOs, particularly in CP Case Management.
  • Strong experience working in protection in a humanitarian/recovery, complex and volatile contexts.
  • Knowledge of access to services and referrals mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with case management principles, standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with different sectoral Service Providers and referral pathways.
  • Strong experience with monitoring tools and systems relevant to case management.
  • Experience in mainstreaming protection concepts within a humanitarian operation.
  • Strong organization, collaboration, representation and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of the area of responsibility and understanding of local communities and customary rules.
  • Excellent observation, analytical and report writing skills.
  • Native Arabic and strong English skills are essential.
  • Strong knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO.
  • Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of FMF.
  • Be available for regular trainings provided by FMF and support in identifying staff training needs.
  • Respect confidentiality of data and information.
  • Attention to details and ability to communicate professionally and effectively – practical and problem-solver.
  • Able to ensure quality delivery in stressful environment, punctuality and respect for rules and procedures, and to adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with heavy work pressure.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
