Job Description:
The GBV Mobile Social Worker will be responsible for providing social support to GBV cases at the community level and improving the referral of GBV cases in need to specific services. They will work closely with communities, conducting outreach activities, providing direct support to survivors, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and holistic response to GBV. The GBV Mobile Social Worker will work independently, often in remote or underserved areas, to reach survivors who may face barriers in accessing services.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mobile Case Management Services:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of GBV survivors and individuals at risk, considering their immediate and long-term needs.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with survivors, ensuring a survivor-centered and trauma-informed approach.
- Provide emotional support, counseling, and psychosocial assistance to survivors, promoting their empowerment and resilience.
- Facilitate access to essential services, including medical care, legal aid, and psychosocial support, by coordinating with service providers and accompanying survivors, if necessary.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Conduct regular outreach activities to identify and reach out to GBV survivors and individuals at risk in remote or underserved areas.
- Raise awareness about GBV, its causes, consequences, and available support services through community-based campaigns and interactive sessions.
- Engage with community leaders, local authorities, and other stakeholders to foster community ownership, promote gender equality, and challenge harmful gender norms.
GBV Prevention and Risk Mitigation:
- Conduct community-based awareness sessions on GBV prevention, gender equality, and human rights, targeting different age groups and genders.
- Facilitate support groups, discussion forums, and educational activities to promote empowerment, resilience, and positive behavior change among community members.
- Collaborate with the Prevention and Risk Mitigation Assistant to integrate prevention strategies into case management activities and develop risk mitigation plans.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including community-based organizations, local authorities, health centers, and legal aid providers, to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive response to GBV.
- Participate in coordination meetings, working groups, and case conferences to share information, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate closely with other GBV actors, including GBV Mobile Teams, Protection Assistants, and Adolescent Girl Assistants, to ensure a holistic approach to GBV response and prevention.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of case management activities, ensuring compliance with data protection protocols.
- Prepare regular reports on activities, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for program improvement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure the impact and effectiveness of GBV interventions.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A university degree in in social sciences or any other relevant subject or any related field.
- 2 years of experience working with I/NGOs, particularly in GBV Case Management.
- Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in GBV response programs.
- Additional training or certification in GBV response, case management, or related areas is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with mobile service delivery approaches and community-based interventions is an advantage.
- Knowledge of access to services and referrals mechanisms.
- Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with different sectoral Service Providers and referral pathways.
- Strong experience with monitoring tools and systems relevant to case management.
- Experience in mainstreaming protection concepts within a humanitarian operation.
- Strong organization, collaboration, representation and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of the area of responsibility and understanding of local communities and customary rules.
- Excellent observation, analytical and report writing skills.
- Native Arabic and strong English skills are essential.
- Strong knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO.
- Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission, and vision of FMF.
- Be available for regular training provided by FMF and support in identifying staff training needs.
- Respect confidentiality of data and information.
- Attention to details and ability to communicate professionally and effectively – practical and problem-solver.
- Able to ensure quality delivery in stressful environment, punctuality and respect for rules and procedures, and to adhere to deadlines.
- Ability to deal with heavy work pressure.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
