Background

FMF is a non-profit and non-governmental organization aiming to provide health, nutrition, food security and protection services as a humanitarian response to the escalating socio-economic situation in Yemen since 2012.

FMF will implement a UNHCR funded project entitled: ‘Camp Coordination and camp management to IDPs who settled in the camps in Wadi Hadhramaut to manage and address the gaps and needs and ensure a better life for the IDPs in the site with dignity and all basic life needs

Duties and responsibilities

Facilitating community participation:

  •     Establish & train community site committees ensuring that all groups are represented including women and the disabled.
  •     Monitor sites to identify needs, gaps in service provision, and duplication of efforts at IDP sites.
  •     Plan, support, and organize social cohesion building activities at IDP sites.
  •     Identifying and implementing opportunities for community engagement and community ownership in site management.

Population monitoring and data collection:

  •     Establish and maintain networks of key people in IDP sites.
  •     Report site movement to designated FMF focal point.
  •     Ensure the timely registration of IDPs, including identification of protection related needs.
  •     Maintain a comprehensive database of service and needs related information for each site.
  •     Draft weekly situation reports and provide other relevant information on site conditions and services/
  •     Provide, document, and track timely referrals and service requests to key partners.
  •     Conduct assessments and data collection exercises including supervising casual labour.
  •     Support other teams in conducting multi-sectorial assessments of IDP needs.

Representation of site management:

  •     Represent FMF with communities, local authorities, site partners, and other stakeholders.
  •     Build and maintain mutually respectful relationships with service providers, local authorities, IDP community members as well as  host community members.
  •     Foster collaborative relationships with local authorities to facilitate implementation of activities.
  •     Attend and facilitate meetings with stakeholders, such as local authorities, NGOs, INGOs, and IDPs, including a provision of meeting minutes.

Distribution, WASH and Shelter:

  •     Provide non-technical supervision and oversight of WASH and Shelter activities including assessments and beneficiary consultations.
  •     Prepare for and conduct distributions in line with standard distribution procedures ensuring organized and safe distribution.

Capacity building:

  •     Support the CCCM team in organizing capacity building trainings for local authorities and partners.
  •     Train site committees in site monitoring and use of FMF monitoring tools.
  •     Actively participate in development and implementation of protection and gender mainstreaming.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in civil engineering, logistics etc.
  • Minimum two years of experience in international and/or local NGO; ideally involved in CCCM, Shelter, or WASH program, or in support functions (logistics, supply etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good conceptual understanding of gender, protection, and human rights
  • Excellent representation, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong team spirit and ability to work comfortably in multi-cultural contexts
  • Good skills with basic software, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to write reports and situational briefings in English
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time in field conditions
  • Ability to come up with innovative solutions to unexpected and challenging problems
