About The Project:
According to 2019 Humanitarian Needs , acute malnutrition among children under the age of 5 is estimated at just over 2 million children, including nearly 360,000 Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases. Given that a child with severe acute malnutrition is 11 times more at risk of death than a healthy child, preventing, detecting and treating malnutrition among children and improving IYCF practices are essential life-saving interventions that will contribute significantly to reducing the impact of the ongoing conflict on children in Yemen. Due to the current situation, FMF is proposing a project that aims to detect, prevent and treat acute malnutrition among the most vulnerable population (children under five ‘ land pregnant and lactating women (PLW) ).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Record and Monitor the anthropometric measurements of the PLW.
• Provides PLW with RH consultation that include Antenatal, post-natal and family Planning consultation.
• Refer all complicated deliveries to the nearest health facilities or hospitals.
• Provide family planning methods including pills and injectable contraceptives for lactating mother
• Distribute folic acid and iron supplement to PLW in the mobile team operation areas
• Provides IYCF counseling to PLW in the mobile team operation areas.
• Keep record for IYCF counseling and submit weekly and Monthly IYCF and RH reports.
• Trace PLW defaulter and provide required assistance to avoid future defaulting
• Decides when to discharge PLW beneficiaries in collaboration with mobile team leader
• to encourage and advise the mothers having difficulties to feed their children.
• Decide of the discharge of the patients following the recovery criteria and in collaboration with the mobile team leader.
• Provide health and nutrition education to the mothers.
• Any additional duties as requested by the team leader
Qualification, Skills and Abilities Required
• Diploma in midwife, health, science social studies or equivalent.
• Work experience in CMAM and Health/nutrition programs is preferable.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Very good communication skills
• Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situation
• Preferable from the same district or Gov
